As an advocate for sustainability, TOTO strives to minimize the impact of its products and manufacturing process. TOTO USA recycles all commingled waste and plastic and cardboard, composts food waste, reuses industrial gray water for wash-down during production, and uses 100% green energy for its Morrow plant. In addition, imperfect and damaged porcelain is recycled by grinding it to powder and using it in tile manufacture, avoiding the need for new raw materials.

Before Toto, the band members worked as regular session musicians for a wide variety of popular artists including Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, Boz Scaggs, and Sonny and Cher. The group’s first release, Toto IV, was a commercial hit that brought the band to wider attention. The follow up, Hydra, failed to make an impact and the group began to see their career in decline. Despite this, Toto still had a solid core that consisted of Lukather, Paich and Joseph Williams. Unlike many of the other bands they played with, Toto stayed together through thick and thin. In 2010 the band reformed to raise awareness for ALS and went on a world tour.
